There is an almost supernatural bond between a mother and her child. 

A string attached to each heart.

Even when they don't know it.

A little girl

Some pictures of a beautiful little girl who came to my studio the other day. 

Where do they come from?

Where do they come from,

these perfect, little Beings?

Why are we entrusted with them,

these fragile, helpless, little creations?

We, who never will be able to perform this duty

the way it should be done.

There must be a reason,

and even if we don't know it,

we do our best,

while hoping we are helped...

The Universal Soul

In a little baby's eyes

we see the universal soul,

we see ourselves

the infant we were

and in many ways

always will be...

I don't photograph much these days, which is typical for January.  Instead I'm working on a photography class which I'll be teaching this coming Saturday.  It's a basic class, and I've called it: I Want to Take Better Pictures.  It's all about getting to know the basic functions of a camera, and how to avoid the worst pitfalls.

This picture , is taken by Julia margaret Cameron, one of my favorite photographers.  It is inspired by Perugino's Annunciation , and it's taken in 1865, in the youth of photography.  Cameron was not merely a portraitist, but a real artist, who  created beautiful, mystical and emotional photographs.

To picture an unborn child is special, both when we picture her in our minds and when I use my camera.

Happy New Year !

A happy baby is wishing us all a happy new year!  Possibilities, exciting days to come, a whole future is waiting for us, the young and the old!

That hand

That hand is bigger than mine.

That is so reassuring.

I know it can lift me up

hold me

protect me

take me where I need to go.

When I'm grown up,

I will still need a hand

that is bigger than mine.

Toddler life

Toddlers are fascinating.  They're intrigued by what's surrounding them, they question it, and go after it.  And, it makes them happy...

Stolthet og Håp

This photograph got accepted to a local art exhibit this fall.  I named it "Stolthet og Håp", which translates "Pride and Hope".

Being Here and Now

Babies really know the art of Being.

They know how to stay in whatever world they are in at the moment,

focusing on the Here and Now.

Why did we ever forget this?

Wonder who I am...

Isn't it too amazing to grasp, every new life?
A perfect, little human being, looking at you, looking out at the world.
A universe of possibilities lies within those eyes.
What's out there?
What am I going to do?
Who will I be to this world?
Who am I?

Dur dur d'être bébé

Yes, just like the French song title from 1992, it can be really hard to be a baby sometimes.  There is no way to talk about your troubles, you can't go for a walk, or eat chocolate or go shopping or whatever grown people do to make them feel better.

All you can do, is cry out, and hopefully someone will be  there for you.

Then, life is good again, safe, cozy and perfect.

We've all been there,

and in many ways,

we still are.

Push yourself harder...
